Liska as a Hub of Jewish Tradition

From the 19th century, Liska has served as a focal point of Jewish community and tradition. Hershele Lisker, or Tzvi Hirsh Liska, draws thousands to Liska, inspiring pilgrimage each year. The village hosts more than 500 Jewish historical sites, including cemeteries and places of worship that represent a rich heritage. Close to 3,000 Jewish residents called Liska home by the late 1800s, creating a lively community. Liska’s heritage resonates in neighboring communities such as Kerestir and throughout Hungary. Today, Liska attracts around 5,000 visitors annually, each drawn by its historical and spiritual significance.
